Target Information

MMP3 (stromelysin-1) belongs to the peptidase M10A subfamily. It is secreted as a pro-protein and activated by extracellular proteolytic cleavage. MMP3 binds zinc and calcium ions and exhibits metallo-endopeptidase activity, degrading collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, and laminin. It plays roles in wound repair and tissue remodeling. Mutations in MMP3 can be associated with coronary heart disease 6.
