Target Information
This gene encodes a protein capable of inducing cartilage formation in vivo. Although other bone morphogenetic proteins belong to the TGF-beta superfamily, this gene encodes a protein not closely related to other known growth factors. It is expressed as alternatively spliced variants sharing an N-terminal protease domain but differing in their C-terminal region.
