Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
WNT6 is overexpressed in cervical cancer cell lines and coexpressed with WNT10A in colorectal cancer cell lines, suggesting a role in carcinogenesis.
Both WNT6 and WNT10A genes are clustered on chromosome 2q35. The human WNT6 protein shares 97% amino acid identity with the mouse Wnt6 protein.
