CD36 (scavenger receptor class B member 3)는 대식세포, 혈소판, 지방세포 등 다양한 세포 표면에 발현되는 단백질로, 지질 대사, 염증, 동맥경화 등에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 산화된 LDL, 장쇄 지방산, 세포사멸 잔여물 등의 리간드를 인식하고 섭취하는 기능을 수행합니다. 또한 말라리아 병원체 Plasmodium falciparum의 적혈구 부착에도 관여합니다.
CD36은 혈소판 표면의 주요 당단백 중 하나로, 콜라겐, 트롬보스폰딘, 음이온성 인지질, 산화 LDL과 결합합니다. 이 유전자 변이는 혈소판 당단백 결핍증 및 관상동맥질환 7형과 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
