Target Information
Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP)는 특정 염증성 질환 과정의 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 효소입니다. 이 효소에는 intestinal, placental, placental-like, liver/bone/kidney 등 네 가지 형태가 존재하며, 각각 잘 특성화되어 있습니다.
PLAP는 임신 3기 동안 태반에서 발현되는 막결합형 isoenzyme(Regan 및 Nagao type)에 반응합니다. 또한 PLAP는 고환 생식세포 종양의 식별에 유용하며, PLAP 양성 체세포 종양은 epithelial membrane antigen (EMA)을 균일하게 발현합니다.
PLAP의 기능은 기질 광물화(matrix mineralization)로 제안되었으나, 이 효소가 결핍된 생쥐는 정상적인 골격 발달을 보입니다. PLAP는 고인산혈증(hypophosphatasia)과 직접적으로 관련되어 있으며, 이는 고칼슘혈증과 골격 결함을 특징으로 하는 질환입니다. 돌연변이의 종류에 따라 발병 시기와 증상의 심각도가 달라질 수 있습니다.
