MMP3 (stromelysin-1)은 peptidase M10A 하위 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 비활성 전구체 형태로 분비되어 세포외 단백질분해효소에 의해 활성화됩니다.
활성형 MMP3는 아연 및 칼슘 이온과 결합하며, metallo-endopeptidase 활성을 통해 콜라겐, 젤라틴, 피브로넥틴, 라미닌 등을 분해합니다.
상처 회복 및 조직 재형성과 같은 정상 세포 과정에 관여하며, 유전자 변이는 관상동맥 심장질환 6형과 관련될 수 있습니다.
