Target Information
The ZBTB family of proteins consists of diverse zinc finger proteins containing a BTB (BR-C, ttk, and bab) domain. ZBTB9 (also known as ZNF919) is expressed in multiple tissues, with high cytoplasmic expression in the placenta. Although ZBTB9 is not well characterized, other ZBTB proteins such as ZBTB4 bind methylated DNA and repress transcription. ZBTB7A acts as a proto-oncogene whose overexpression contributes to breast cancer malignancy, suggesting ZBTB9 may function as a transcriptional repressor or play a role in tumorigenesis.
