Target Information
GDF-5는 배아 발달 중 장골에서, 그리고 출생 후 관절 연골에서 발현됩니다.
GDF-5 유전자의 돌연변이는 Hunter-Thompson형 왜소증 및 Grebe 증후군과 관련이 있으며, 이는 단신, 다지증, 사지 변형 등의 특징을 가집니다.
성숙한 GDF-5는 두 개의 120 아미노산 폴리펩타이드 사슬(단량체)이 단일 이황화 결합으로 연결된 호모다이머 형태입니다.
각 GDF-5 단량체는 27 아미노산의 신호 펩타이드와 354 아미노산의 프로펩타이드를 포함하는 전구체 폴리펩타이드의 C-말단 부분으로 발현됩니다.
이 전구체는 세포 내에서 이합체화되며, 분비 시 furin-type 프로테아제에 의해 절단되어 성숙 단백질이 생성됩니다.
