Product Specific Information

Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Specificity: TERT.

Target Information

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by adding the repeat sequence TTAGGG. It includes a protein component with reverse transcriptase activity (encoded by the TERT gene) and an RNA component that serves as a template. Telomerase expression is typically repressed in postnatal somatic cells, leading to telomere shortening and cellular senescence. Dysregulation may contribute to oncogenesis. Studies suggest telomerase may aid chromosomal repair through de novo synthesis of telomere repeats. Multiple alternatively spliced variants of TERT exist, some with incomplete sequences, indicating complex regulation of telomerase activity.
