Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody LDK18 recognizes human Cytokeratin 18, a member of the intermediate filament family found in epithelial cells. Cytokeratin 18 (type I) commonly pairs with Cytokeratin 8 (type II) to form keratin filaments. It serves as a tumor marker for identifying epithelial-origin tumors and metastases, and is expressed in proliferative retinal pigment epithelium cells.

Used in microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested:
Validated in MeOH-fixed human cells for ICC at ≤5 µg/mL. Optimal titration recommended per assay.

Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18) belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low molecular weight keratins and pairs with Cytokeratin 8. It is expressed in epithelial tissues of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital tracts, as well as endocrine and exocrine tissues. Found mainly in non-squamous epithelia and adenocarcinomas, but not in squamous cell carcinomas. Hepatocellular carcinomas express only cytokeratins 8 and 18. Mutations in the KRT18 gene are associated with cryptogenic cirrhosis. Cytokeratin subtype patterns aid in tumor classification and differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry.
