Product Specific Information
The HIR2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human glycophorin A, a sialoglycoprotein expressed by erythroid precursors and mature circulating red cells.
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis. It has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of diluted normal human peripheral blood cells.
Binding of this antibody to red cells at high antibody concentration causes cell agglutination. Recommended usage is 5 µL (0.03 µg) per test, with a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
eFluor™ 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue™, emitting at 445 nm when excited at 405 nm (Violet laser). Ensure that the instrument is compatible with this fluorochrome.

Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells.
It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides a mucin-like barrier that minimizes red blood cell aggregation.
CD235a also acts as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Hsa, a Streptococcus adhesin.
