USH1C 유전자는 Usher 단백질 복합체의 조립에 관여하는 스캐폴드 단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 PDZ 도메인, 이중 핵 내 이동 신호를 포함한 코일드-코일 영역, 그리고 PEST 분해 서열을 포함합니다. 해당 유전자의 결함은 Usher 증후군 1C형 및 비증후성 감각신경성 난청(autosomal recessive type 18)의 원인이 됩니다. 다양한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이가 보고되어 있습니다.
