Description:
Monoclonal antibody eBio5G3 recognizes CD171 (L1CAM), a neural cell adhesion molecule belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily with six extracellular Ig domains and five fibronectin type III-like repeats. CD171 mediates cell-cell adhesion in neuronal myelination, neurite outgrowth, and regeneration. It is expressed on monocytes, dendritic cells, lymphocytes, neuronal tissues, and some tumor cell lines, where it may contribute to tumor progression. The eBio5G3 epitope is located in the amino-terminal Ig-like domain.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, Western blot (non-reducing), and immunohistology of frozen sections.

Applications Tested:
Validated on Panc-1 tumor cell line for flow cytometry. Recommended ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration per assay.

Target Information

L1CAM/CD171:
An axonal glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, consisting of multiple Ig-like and fibronectin type III-like domains linked via a transmembrane region to a cytoplasmic domain. It is critical for neuronal migration, differentiation, and development. Mutations cause X-linked neurological syndromes collectively known as CRASH (corpus callosum hypoplasia, retardation, aphasia, spastic paraplegia, hydrocephalus). Alternative splicing of a neuron-specific exon is functionally relevant.
