GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)
GAPDH는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 동일한 37 kDa 단위체로 구성된 4량체 형태로 존재합니다. NADPH 존재하에서 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 환원시키는 반응을 촉매합니다.
해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제, 수선, RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여하며, 세포사멸(apoptosis), 노화 관련 신경퇴행성 질환, 암세포 신호전달 등에도 연관되어 있습니다.
GAPDH는 대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되므로 Western blot에서 단백질 로딩 컨트롤로 널리 사용됩니다.
