Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after mitotic fragmentation.
This gene encodes a member of the golgin family, proteins localized to the Golgi apparatus, and is thought to play a role in Rab6-regulated membrane-tethering events. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
