Acyl-CoA thioesterases are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to free fatty acids and coenzyme A (CoASH), regulating intracellular levels of acyl-CoAs, free fatty acids, and CoASH. This enzyme is active towards fatty acyl-CoA with chain lengths of C12–C16.
