Product Specific Information

The HIB19 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by B cells during all stages of development except terminally differentiated plasma cells. Follicular dendritic cells also express CD19. CD19 forms a multimolecular complex with CD21, CD81, Leu13, and MHC class II, which associates with the BCR. Signaling through CD19 induces tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and proliferation of B cells. The SJ25C1 and HIB19 antibodies recognize overlapping epitopes.

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells and on certain myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 is a key regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation and is expressed in all B cell precursor leukemias. It assembles with the B cell receptor to lower the threshold for antigen receptor-dependent stimulation and can signal independently. Mutations cause hypogammaglobulinemia; overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity.
