CACNA2D3는 전압 의존성 칼슘 채널 복합체의 α2/δ 서브유닛 패밀리에 속하는 단백질입니다. 칼슘 채널은 막 탈분극 시 세포 내로 칼슘 이온 유입을 매개하며, α1, α2/δ, β, γ 서브유닛이 1:1:1:1 비율로 구성됩니다. 각 서브유닛은 유전자 변이 또는 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 다양한 형태로 존재할 수 있습니다. 토끼 단백질 연구에서 본 단백질이 α2와 δ 서브유닛으로 절단됨이 보고되었습니다.
