Target Information
Kallikreins, including Kallikrein 6, are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK6 enzyme is regulated by steroid hormones and has been shown in tissue culture to generate amyloidogenic fragments from the amyloid precursor protein, suggesting a potential role in Alzheimer’s disease.
