Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The murine gene Suv39h2 encodes an H3 histone methyltransferase (HMTase) that shares 59% sequence identity with mouse Suv39h1. During embryogenesis, both proteins overlap in tissue expression, but Suv39h2 transcripts are restricted to the testes in adult animals. Immunolocalization studies show Suv39h2 enrichment at heterochromatin from the leptotene to round spermatid stage. It specifically accumulates with chromatin of sex chromosomes, which undergo transcriptional silencing during the first meiotic prophase. Suv39h2 HMTase may also organize meiotic heterochromatin with potential epigenetic imprinting to the male germline.
