Monoclonal antibody M241 blocks C4 activation and C4 binding to activated C1s.
The antibody binds specifically to the active center of C1s.
Target Information
Activated C1s is a protein complex involved in the complement system, a key component of the innate immune response.
C1s is a serine protease that cleaves C4 and C2 in the classical pathway of complement activation, leading to the formation of C3 convertase.
Activation of C1s occurs upon binding of C1q to antigen–antibody complexes or other ligands.
The C1S gene, located on chromosome 12, encodes this protein.
Dysregulation of C1s activation has been associated with autoimmune disorders, infections, and inflammatory diseases.
