Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on gamma-epsilon and delta-epsilon dimers of the human CD3 complex, which is part of the multisubunit T cell receptor complex (CD3/TCR) expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes and mature thymocytes.
Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating TCR complex expression. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are part of the immunoglobulin superfamily, encoded on human chromosome 11. These subunits associate with intracellular signaling molecules through tyrosine-based motifs.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency and altered T-cell populations in autoimmune diseases.
