Target Information

KIR3DL1 belongs to the Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) family, which are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed by natural killer cells and subsets of T cells.
KIR genes are polymorphic and clustered on chromosome 19q13.4 within the leukocyte receptor complex (LRC).
KIR proteins are classified by the number of extracellular immunoglobulin domains (2D or 3D) and by the length of the cytoplasmic domain (L or S).
Proteins with long cytoplasmic domains transduce inhibitory signals via immune tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIM), while short domains associate with TYRO protein tyrosine kinase binding protein to transduce activating signals.
Ligands for several KIR proteins are subsets of HLA class I molecules, indicating their key role in immune regulation.
