Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins, the SART1 protein expressed in the nucleus of proliferating cells and the SART1 protein expressed in the cytosol of epithelial cancers.
The SART1 protein is translated via a -1 frameshifting mechanism during posttranscriptional regulation; its full-length sequence is not yet published.
Both encoded proteins are involved in cell proliferation regulation and possess tumor-rejection antigens.
SART1 protein contains tumor epitopes capable of inducing HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients.
This antigen may be useful for specific immunotherapy and serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for atopy.
SART1 is essential for tri-snRNP recruitment to the pre-spliceosome in spliceosome assembly.
