Target Information
L-plastin is a leukocyte-specific actin-bundling protein belonging to the fimbrin family. It contains two actin-binding domains and two EF-hand calcium-binding domains. L-plastin becomes phosphorylated on a serine residue in its headpiece region in response to inflammatory stimuli and is thought to regulate integrin-mediated adhesion in leukocytes. It is expressed in most human cancer cell lines derived from solid tumors and is upregulated by testosterone in androgen receptor–positive prostate and breast cancer cells via androgen receptor binding elements upstream of the gene.
