Dystrophin은 X 염색체 Xp21 위치의 DMB/BMD 유전자로부터 생성되는 427 kDa 단백질입니다. Western blotting과 immunohistochemistry는 근육 생검에서 Dystrophin 발현 이상을 검출하는 데 널리 사용됩니다. DMD/BMD 환자 대부분에서 Dystrophin 이상이 관찰되며, 유전적 이상은 약 65%의 사례에서만 검출됩니다.
