Target Information

14-3-3 is a family of acidic, soluble proteins highly conserved across eukaryotic species. Seven isoforms (beta, gamma, epsilon, eta, zeta, sigma, and tau/theta) are identified in mammals, forming homo- and heterodimeric cup-shaped structures.
14-3-3 interacts with over 100 binding partners, regulating key proteins involved in signal transduction, cell cycle, transcriptional control, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and ion channel physiology.
Most 14-3-3 interactions require phosphorylation of serine or threonine residues in target sequences. This protein is abundantly expressed in the brain and detected in cerebrospinal fluid of patients with various neurological disorders.
