The AFKJS-9 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse, human, and rhesus monkey ROR gamma (t) protein.
ROR gamma belongs to the retinoic acid-related orphan receptor (ROR) family, including ROR alpha and ROR beta. These ligand-dependent transcription factors are involved in multiple physiological processes.
ROR gamma is expressed in liver, lung, muscle, heart, and kidney. The ROR gamma (t) isoform, expressed in lymphoid cells such as CD4+CD8+ thymocytes, Th17 cells, and LTi cells, differs by three amino acids at the N-terminus. Thus, AFKJS-9 antibody recognizes both ROR gamma and ROR gamma (t).
Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometry using mouse thymocytes and the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set (Product #00-5523-00).

Target Information
ROR gamma (NR1 Thyroid Hormone-Like receptor) regulates thymopoiesis, bone metabolism, T-cell apoptosis, and lymphoid organogenesis.
It promotes thymocyte survival via Bcl-x(L) expression and is essential for lymph node and Peyer’s patch development.
ROR gamma(t), a thymus-specific isoform, inhibits Fas ligand expression and cytokine secretion in immature thymocytes.
ROR gamma binds as a monomer to response elements containing a GGTCA core motif with an AT-rich sequence.
Expression is found in mouse thymus, adipose, bone, skeletal muscle, liver, kidney, and human skeletal muscle.
RORC isoform ROR gammat (RORgt) is involved in immune regulation and Th17 cell differentiation.
