Product Specific Information
The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV. The OKT4 antibody recognizes a different epitope than the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody, and these antibodies do not cross-block each other.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use is 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume. Suitable cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorophore Information:
Super Bright 436 is excited with the violet laser (405 nm) and emits at 436 nm. Recommended detection filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent.
When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information
CD4 is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is expressed in T-helper lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. It plays a role in T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.
