Target Information
GBE1은 글리코겐 가지효소(glycogen branching enzyme)로, 글리코겐 사슬의 α-1,4 결합된 글루코실 단위를 α-1,6 위치로 이동시켜 가지를 형성하는 반응을 촉매합니다. 이러한 가지 형성은 글리코겐의 용해도를 높이고 세포 내 삼투압을 줄이는 데 필수적입니다.
이 효소는 간과 근육에서 높은 수준으로 발현되며, GBE1 유전자의 돌연변이는 글리코겐 저장 질환 IV형(Andersen’s disease)과 관련이 있습니다.
