Target Information
Protein Kinase C alpha (PKC alpha) is a 77 kDa member of the conventional PKC group (cPKCs: sensitive to calcium, diacylglycerol, phosphatidylserine, and phorbol esters). These kinases are involved in various physiological processes such as mitogenesis, cell survival, and transcriptional regulation. PKC alpha regulates cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation, migration, adhesion, and solute transport. Phosphorylation at threonine 497 by PDK1 enables autophosphorylation at threonine 638, which is critical for PKC alpha dephosphorylation and inactivation control.
