Product Specific Information

The M17/4 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD11a, the 180 kDa integrin alpha L (LFA-1α). LFA-1 is formed by non-covalent association of CD11a with CD18 (integrin β2) and functions as a key adhesion molecule in lymphocyte and granulocyte activity. Ligands include CD54 (ICAM-1), CD102 (ICAM-2), and CD50 (ICAM-3). CD11a is expressed by all leukocytes.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes; ≤0.125 µg/test recommended.
A test is defined as antibody amount sufficient to stain cells in 100 µL volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize titration for best performance.

Light Sensitivity: PE-Cyanine7 is photo-sensitive; protect vial and samples from light.
Fixation: Samples can be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark using IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-54) with minimal brightness loss.
Excitation: 488–561 nm; Emission: 775 nm; Laser: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD11a (LFA-1α, ITGAL) forms part of the LFA-1 complex with CD18. It mediates leukocyte adhesion via ICAMs 1–3 and participates in lymphocyte costimulatory signaling. CD11a expression on leukocytes transitions from low- to high-affinity conformation upon stimulation, enabling strong ligand binding and immune cell interactions.
Dysfunction of CD11a is associated with diseases such as benign cephalic histiocytosis and leukocyte adhesion deficiency. Therapeutic targeting (e.g., Efalizumab) modulates T-cell migration and inflammation. Two transcript variants encode different isoforms.
