Target Information

This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. This subunit is a member of the SOP2 family and is most similar to ARPC1A. Both may function as the p41 subunit of the Arp2/3 complex, which regulates actin polymerization in cells. The p41 subunit may help assemble and maintain the complex structure, adapting its function to different cell types or developmental stages. It also plays a role in centrosomal homeostasis as an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
