Target Information
ORM1 is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells, and together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, controls cell extravasation during infection and inflammation. ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant in both humans and rats. In human plasma, ORM1 (44 kDa) is found at 0.5–1.4 mg/mL and increases during acute inflammation such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, major surgery, and chronic pain. ORM1 can be used for studying and diagnosing inflammatory conditions.
