Target Information
PRKG1 is a cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase that plays an important role in the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and inhibition of platelet aggregation. PRKG1 proteins regulate cardiovascular and neuronal functions, smooth muscle tone, and cell growth. This gene is highly expressed in smooth muscle, platelets, cerebellar Purkinje cells, hippocampal neurons, and the lateral amygdala. Isoforms Iα and Iβ share identical cGMP-binding and catalytic domains but differ in leucine/isoleucine zipper and autoinhibitory sequences, affecting dimerization and kinase activity.
