Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the IL10 cytokine subfamily. It is preferentially expressed in monocytes and can bind the IL20 receptor complex, activating STAT3. In mouse, it is reported to up-regulate IL6 and TNF-alpha expression and induce apoptosis, suggesting a role in inflammatory responses. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
