Target Information
G-rich sequence factor 1 (GRSF1) is a regulator of post-transcriptional mitochondrial gene expression.
It is required for the assembly of the mitochondrial ribosome and for recruitment of mRNA and lncRNA.
GRSF1 binds RNAs containing a 14-base G-rich element and preferentially associates with RNAs transcribed from three contiguous genes on the light strand of mtDNA, including ND6 mRNA and long non-coding RNAs for MT-CYB and MT-NDS, each containing multiple consensus binding sequences.
