Product Specific Information
- Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heat-induced epitope retrieval in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release, and the apotransferrin-receptor complex is recycled to the cell surface. Transferrin receptor is essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development. Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) is used to detect erythropoietin (EPO) misuse and to diagnose various anemias associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy, irritable bowel syndrome, and HIV infection.
