Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD10 (CALLA - Common acute lymphatic leukemia antigen), a 100 kDa type II integral membrane protein.

Target Information

CD10 (Common Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Antigen, CALLA) is a cell surface enzyme with neutral metalloendopeptidase activity that inactivates various biologically active peptides. It is expressed on lymphoblastic, Burkitt’s, and follicular germinal center lymphoma cells, immature B cells, and cells from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML). CD10 is also present on breast myoepithelial cells, bile canaliculi, fibroblasts, and highly expressed on the brush border of kidney and gut epithelial cells.

CD10 cleaves peptides at the amino side of hydrophobic residues and inactivates peptide hormones such as glucagon, enkephalins, substance P, neurotensin, oxytocin, and bradykinin. It is a 100 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by a gene with four alternatively spliced mRNA transcripts, though the coding region remains unaffected. CD10 dysfunction is associated with spinocerebellar ataxia 43 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
