Antibody detects endogenous levels of total PICALM.
Target Information
PICALM (clathrin assembly lymphoid myeloid leukemia, CALM) protein co-localizes with clathrin at clathrin-coated areas of the plasma membrane and Golgi region. It plays an important role in coated pit internalization machinery.
Fusion proteins involving PICALM have been implicated in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL).
PICALM is also expressed in neurons, present at synapses facilitating endocytosis of synaptic vesicle protein VAMP2.
Recent studies have identified PICALM variants associated with Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting a role in endocytosis and recycling of the amyloid protein precursor (APP).
