FGFR3 (Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 3)는 수용체 티로신 키나아제(FGFR) 계열에 속하며, 세포 분화, 성장, 혈관신생, 골형성, 근형성, 암 발생, 조직 재생 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다.
FGFR 패밀리는 리간드 친화성과 조직 분포에서 차이를 보이며, FGFR3는 산성 및 염기성 FGF와 결합하여 세포 내 신호전달을 유도합니다. 이 단백질은 골 발달과 유지에 중요한 역할을 하며, 유전자 변이는 두개골 조기융합 및 여러 형태의 골이형성증을 유발할 수 있습니다.
세 가지 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되어 있으며, 각각 다른 단백질 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
