Product Specific Information

Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. Restore with 0.1 mL of deionized water (or equivalent). For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for mouse EBI3 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with EBI3 from mouse sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined.

Target Information

EBI3 (Epstein-Barr virus Induced-3) is a secreted glycoprotein of the hematopoietin receptor family. It regulates Th2-type immune responses and Th2-mediated tissue inflammation, potentially via iNKT cell function control. EBI3 dimerizes with p28 and p35 subunits of IL-12 to form IL-27 and IL-35, respectively. IL-27, produced by activated antigen-presenting cells, negatively regulates Th17 cell differentiation. EBI3 expression in dendritic cells is transcriptionally regulated by TLR signaling via MyD88 and NF-kappaB. It suppresses delayed-type hypersensitivity by inhibiting IL-17 and inducing IL-10 production. EBI3 may also influence tumor metastasis through lung CD8+ T cells, and its deficiency reduces Th2 cytokines associated with allergic airway inflammation in asthma. Targeted deletion of EBI3 protects mice from lung metastasis.
