Target Information
CDC7 is a cell division cycle 7 homolog protein critical for the G1/S transition and essential for the initiation of DNA replication. It is expressed in many normal tissues, but overexpression may be associated with neoplastic transformation in some tumors and transformed cell lines. The CDC7/DBF4 kinase promotes S phase by alleviating inhibitory activity in Mcm4, integrating several protein kinases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
