Target Information
Enolase 1 is a multifunctional enzyme involved in glycolysis and various cellular processes such as growth control, hypoxia tolerance, and allergic responses. It may function in the intravascular and pericellular fibrinolytic system by serving as a receptor and activator of plasminogen on cell surfaces including leukocytes and neurons, and it can stimulate immunoglobulin production. MBP1 binds to the myc promoter and acts as a transcriptional repressor, potentially serving as a tumor suppressor.
Enolase 2 exhibits neurotrophic and neuroprotective properties across a broad range of central nervous system (CNS) neurons, binding in a calcium-dependent manner to cultured neocortical neurons and promoting cell survival.
Enolase 3 is believed to function in striated muscle development and regeneration.
