Target Information
The VPS4B protein is a member of the AAA protein family (ATPases associated with diverse cellular activities) and is homologous to the yeast Vps4 protein. In humans, two paralogs have been identified, both showing high sequence similarity with yeast Vps4 and mouse Skd1 proteins. These paralogs localize to endosomal compartments and participate in intracellular protein trafficking, similar to yeast Vps4. The VPS4B gene is mapped to chromosome 18, while its paralog resides on chromosome 16.
