Target Information
The Ku80 protein (also known as ATP-dependent DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5) is the 80-kDa subunit of the Ku heterodimer. It is a DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase complex and functions with DNA ligase IV–XRCC4 in repairing DNA double-strand breaks via non-homologous end joining and in V(D)J recombination. Mutations in this gene can impair DNA repair and recombination processes, and certain polymorphisms are associated with cancer susceptibility and radiosensitivity.
