Target Information
최근 SAGE (Serial Analysis of Gene Expression) 기술을 이용하여 St. Croix 등은 종양 관련 내피세포에서 특이적으로 발현이 증가된 46개의 유전자를 확인하였습니다. 이 중 9개의 유전자는 종양 내피세포에서만 뚜렷하게 발현되고 정상 내피세포에서는 거의 검출되지 않아 Tumor Endothelial Markers (TEMs, TEM1–9)로 명명되었습니다.
TEM7 (Tumor Endothelial Marker 7)은 결장암, 폐암, 췌장암, 유방암, 뇌종양의 내피세포에서 특이적으로 발현되며, 원발성 및 전이성 암 모두에서 동일한 발현 패턴을 보입니다.
이 패밀리의 다른 구성원들(TEM1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9)도 폐 및 뇌종양, 간 전이에서 유사한 발현 양상을 나타냅니다.
대부분의 종양 내피세포에서 차등 발현되는 유전자는 혈관신생 과정에서도 발현되므로, 이러한 새롭게 발견된 유전자는 인간 혈관신생의 기초 및 임상 연구에 중요한 자원이 될 수 있습니다.
