Target Information
MUSK plays an important and selective role in skeletal muscle development and function through postsynaptic differentiation and formation of end-plate bands in cooperation with Rapsyn. Communication between cells is mediated by receptors on the surface of target cells triggered by specific ligands. Receptor tyrosine kinase activity is regulated by ligand binding to the extracellular active site. MuSK is part of the agrin signaling complex and contributes to the development and maintenance of the neuromuscular junction.
