Major scaffold postsynaptic density protein interacting with multiple proteins and complexes to orchestrate dendritic spine and synapse formation, maturation, and maintenance.
Interconnects NMDA-type and metabotropic glutamate receptors via complexes with GKAP/PSD-95 and HOMER, and links to the actin-based cytoskeleton.
Regulates actin dynamics, neuronal growth cone motility, and NMDA receptor signaling.
Modulates GRIA1 exocytosis and GRM5/MGLUR5 signaling to control synaptic transmission and plasticity.
May play a role in early synapse formation and maturation, influenced by IGF1.
