Target Information
PKMYT1 serine/threonine kinase is a member of a family of neural-specific, zinc finger-containing DNA-binding proteins.
It binds to promoter regions of proteolipid proteins in the central nervous system and plays a role in neural development.
MYT1 of the oligodendrocyte lineage, along with a related CCHC zinc finger, is expressed in developing neurons.
Recombinant PKMYT1 fragments containing either the upstream 2 zinc fingers or downstream 4 zinc fingers bind the same cis-regulatory element in the PLP1 promoter in vitro.
DNA binding requires Zn²⁺ but not other divalent cations.
